WEEKEND!

I'm so glad the first week is over! It was the hardest week of my life! Hopefully the days and weeks will get better. I'm thinking they will as I learn Spanish. During this week I was so frustrated. My teachers would would be talking and I would have no clue what so ever about what they were saying. When my teachers tell me to write something I don't understand until someone explains to me. Here's how the week went, Monday and Tuesday were the hardest Wednesday got a little better because I made friends, Thursday was the same as Wednesday and Friday was better because it was Friday. I'm so glad it is the weekend!

Theo: I took Spanish for 2 years in high-school and 1 year in College and never really learned it, getting stuck--I'll never forget, on Subjunctive Mood. My problem was, I think, that I was never around anyone who actually spoke the language--and this makes you a lucky duck--because you can hear it spoken every day, every hour, and feel the need to learn the darned language. I never could see any sense in learning it, because I just knew (falsely) that I'd never, ever use it.

The Spanish speakers in Denver may, one day soon, be the majority of the population, and you'll be in the driver's seat, able to converse with them. Wow.

In the meantime, I''m sure it is as difficult as you say, but anyone who can do front and back flips will certainly master Spanish. How many years did it take before you could do a front flip?

Hang in there.

Love, GrandBob

Theo, I've always wondered what it must be like for those students sitting in class who haven't grown up with English. You are helping me to learn. Thank you. Hang in there.
